To provide technical, administrative, and logistical support in the coordination and implementation of electoral activities within the District Council, in accordance with the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing elections.
Functions of the Unit
The Election Management Unit shall perform the following functions:
Coordinate and support the implementation of electoral activities within the District in accordance with directives issued by the National Electoral Commission and other relevant authorities.
Provide administrative and logistical support for national and local government elections, referenda, and by-elections conducted within the District.
Coordinate voter education and civic awareness activities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to promote informed participation in electoral processes.
Facilitate the recruitment, training, and deployment of temporary election officials and support staff as required during election periods.
Coordinate the distribution, custody, and accountability of election materials and equipment within the District.
Support the preparation and management of polling stations, tallying centers, and other election-related facilities.
Ensure proper documentation, record keeping, and reporting of election-related activities and results in accordance with established procedures.
Liaise with security organs, government institutions, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure peaceful, free, and fair conduct of elections.
Handle election-related inquiries, complaints, and correspondence at the District level and facilitate their submission to the relevant authorities.
Safeguard election materials and records before, during, and after elections in accordance with applicable laws and guidelines.
Leadership
The Unit shall be headed by a District Election Officer.
